Continue reading »]]> Below, you can comment to The Daily Bible readings from February 5-7 that were discussed in Bible class on Wednesday night, February 8. Perhaps we didn’t discuss in class a point or application you wanted to make or discuss. You can do that here. We learned about the Levites and their new role in the service of the tabernacle, setting it up and taking it down and carrying it to the next location. God assigns marching and camping orders by tribe and levitical clan. Also, the Israelites grumble about not having meat to eat. Moses reaches a point of great discouragement feeling the burden of the people is too heavy for him to continue to carry. God appoints 70 elders in Israel to share in Moses’ workload. God also provides quail for the Israelites and then plagues them to make strong point about his anger of their complaining.

Continue reading »]]> Moses and the Israelites are led by God out of Egypt into the Wilderness, escaping servitude to a hardened and tyrannic Pharaoh, for which the Passover and redemption are instituted by God. It’s not long before the Israelites fear their circumstances and grumble about it to Moses. In spite of their grumblings God hears their cries and delivers them through a parted sea from the pursuing Egyptians as well as providing them with food enough for each day to test their obedience and to prove to them that he is the Lord. Moses receives the 10 commandments while the Israelites demand of Aaron to make them a god to praise for their deliverance. It’s a trying time for Moses who is both angry with them and yet pleads with God to forgive them and exercise patience for his own glory to be seen in it all.
